Term lists are lists of words or phrases that appear in your references. They help standardize data entry and searching. EndNote provides several lists of journal names and abbreviations, including lists for Chemistry, Medicine (Index Medicus), Law, Economics and the Humanities, all of which are stored in the Terms folder in the EndNote folder. If you are interested in using these abbreviated forms (with or without periods) of the journal names in your bibliographies, you can import them into your term lists and adjust your styles to use the abbreviations.
