All EndNote 2025 and higher licensees may use EndNote Web (EndNote Online) for free, for which an account needs to be registered. This also applies for EndNote for iPhone and/or the EndNote for iPad app.
MacOS
For the end-user Mac installer, click on the download link next to the right installer file type.

(This installer file for the macOS has already your license details). Please do not provide the Link URL to the end user(s). Instead download the file and give or distribute the file to the end user(s).
Windows
The Site / Multi User setup files require special handling before distribution to the end user clients. The preparation of end user installers will take appr. 10-15 minutes of your time. For detailed instructions please see the PDF documentation (e.g., English EndNote 2025 Windows Site / Multi User License Installation instructions’).
Best practice:
- Write down/copy your product key (see also top of this email).
- Download the zip file EndNote 2025 Windows User License Distribution (zip, incl. admin.bat). An existing ‘License.dat’ (step 7) for a major version (i.c. EndNote 2025.1) can be used to perform new installations.
- Extract/unzip this file to another folder (e.g., EndNote user installer). REALLY UNPACK to another folder, don't run it from the zip-file.
- Go to the folder where the extracted files reside (e.g., EndNote user installer) via Windows Explorer or via the command prompt (CMD DOS screen).
- Double click or run ‘admin.bat’.
- Now you will be prompted in the screen to enter details while creating the end user installer and license file. The setup will ask your Organization name and product key. These details will be incorporated into the end user client installer, therefore, please also use your SL or MU license number (useful for support requests and handling).
- You will be asked to enter a target folder (e.g., EndNote client installer) where the end user client installer and license file (‘License.dat’) will be generated and stored.
- After finishing the wizard please browse to the target folder (e.g., EndNote client installer) where you will find the new client installer msi and a ‘license.dat’ file. The content of this folder can be used for client setup and distribution or for individual installations.
