Important info: EndNote X8 release and availablility for Site licensees

EndNote X8 has been released

Dear EndNote (Online) Site licensees,

A new major version EndNote X8 has been released. We are working hard to make the new version available to you and to your end user students, researchers, research staff and employees.

Since the Site license files and licenses are different than the end user items, it needs  some special preparation. What can you expect from us the coming next days:

1. We will make the regular Windows and Mac Site license files available.
2. Together with the files we will make your organizations Serial Number and Product key available for EndNote X8 Windows and Mac. The Serial numbers and Product keys are cross compatible (can be used both for Windows and Mac).
   Important: To avoid illegal distribution, please do not give product keys to your end users. Following our instructions, you may prepare a special 'end user installer' containing the Organization Name and SL-number and provide your end users with that prepared file.
3. Special note on EndNote X8 for Mac. Since OS X 10.12 Sierra has strengthened (Gatekeeper) the way OS X 10.12 handles files downloaded from the outside world, a last minute solution has been brought up to distribute the end user installer for Site licensees. In contrary to item 2 above and to the Windows edition, the end user installer will be prepared by us and provided to you as a ready made and ready to distribute end user installer. So, if you get the end user installer for EndNote X8 Mac, it will be a branded version for your organization. Once you have received the EndNote X8 Mac end user version, you may distribute that file, without any handling, to the end users: Internal network or 'home' use. Once the files are ready, we will communicate it including the required instructions.
4. Just briefly the most essential technical details:
   EndNote X8 Windows requires Windows 7 SP 1 or higher and is compatible with Microsoft Word [Cite While You Write] for Windows: 2007, 2010*, 2013*, and 2016* (* 32- and 64-bit).
   EndNote X8 Mac requires Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher and is compatible with Microsoft Word [Cite While You Write] for Macintosh: 2011, 2016 (version 15.21.1 or later).
