EndNote 21.4 for Windows and Mac have been released on July 23, 2024. Since the special builds for the Site Licensees take some time to be prepared our announcements to you are always a bit delayed as well.
The EndNote 21.4 Windows and Mac installers are available for you at our Download portal and have been updated.
The download portal works but is slow. This is a known issue. We are working on it. Thank you in advance for your patience.
What's new in EndNote 21.4 Windows and Mac
EndNote 21.4 Windows and Mac contains some functionality changes and fixes. Please see the detailed release notes for EndNote 21.4 Windows and Mac on our web site and for a full overview of EndNote version 21 the EndNote 21 product page.
After the upgrade the version numbers will be:
EndNote 21.4 Windows Build: 21.4.0.18113
EndNote 21.4 Mac Build: 21.4.0.20467

Please find below your license details regarding your EndNote 21 Site license
Your EndNote 21 license, product key, serial number and unique end-user Mac url have not been changed.
You may use the new version MSI-Installers with your current EndNote 21 'License.dat' file for new installations, new distributions and/or packages.
For the Mac-version you may use the newest version EndNote21SiteInstaller.DMG Installer file for new installations and/or new distributions.
Existing EndNote 21 installations
Windows
If you have authorized your end-users to download and install updates then they may initiate the update via the popup screen when they start EndNote 21 or they might initiate the update via the menu 'Help > Check for Updates…'.
Bulk patch update existing EndNote 21 installations with the 'EndNote 21.4 Windows MSP Patch Update Site License License for existing installations EndNote 21.0 through 21.3 Windows' available in the download portal.
Mac
If you have authorized your end-users to download and install updates then they may initiate the update via the popup screen when they start EndNote 21 or they might initiate the update via the menu 'EndNote 21 > Check for Updates...'.

EndNote 21 Mac END USER PRE-BRANDED Site License Distribution
Due to macOS security, you can no longer create an unlocked volume installer for Mac end users. So, you will get this pre-branded Site License end-user installer custom-made for your organization:
File name: EndNote21SiteInstaller.dmg
Please do not provide the link to your end users, instead, download this file and offer it to your Mac end users through your own (learning) portal or distribution systems.

Please remember, optional: All licensed users may create a free EndNote Online account [EndNote 21 or Edit > Preferences > Sync > Enable Sync > Sign Up]. One may also download and use EndNote for iPhone and iPad app from the Apple App store.
